Christmas Appeals in our Community
Recent concerns around rising food, housing, fuel and other costs have increased the financial burden
for many in our community. While the holidays are generally a time for joy and celebration, December
can also increase the stress for families and individuals. The Outreach Lead Team (OLT) would like to
highlight a few of the many special Christmas initiatives that members of the congregation may wish to
consider supporting, to the extent they are able to do so. Additional information is available at the links
provided.

A Holiday Luncheon in support of Phoenix will take place on December 6th, 2022 at the Halifax
Convention Centre ballroom. Tickets at a variety of levels are available, or cheques (payable to Phoenix
Youth Programs) can be mailed or delivered to: Phoenix Youth Programs, 5880 Spring Garden Rd, Suite
200, Halifax, NS, B3H 1Y1
Christmas program includes providing a hot Christmas meal. Donations can be made online, by calling
902-405-4663, or by mailing a cheque to: Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 9255 RPO CSC, Halifax,
NS, B3K 9Z9
We would encourage members of the congregation to also consider Brunswick Street Mission (BSM), a
long-time community partner of St. John’s, and the regular programs it provides that need ongoing
support. Donations to BSM can be made online, or by mailing cheque to: 2107 Brunswick Street, Halifax
NS, B3K 2Y4. Donations can also be made in person at 2107 Brunswick Street (Monday to Friday
between the hours of 9am and 2pm).
